What are we doing and how?
Through our fundraising campaign, we will transform our existing preschool, build a new and more sustainable preschool, and support the building of affordable housing.
Most of the cost for the preschool transformation and expansion will be met by leasing our land to support the creation of affordable housing. The remaining costs will be satisfied through our capital campaign project.
Together these two projects align with our church’s mission of responding to the needs of our local intergenerational community.
More Accessible
Park Street Christian Preschool (PSCP) is accessible to many families by being affordable and providing full-day, full-week services for working families. We also provide unique outdoor access with our outdoor classroom and play spaces. While PSCP is a Christian preschool, it is open to any family regardless of their faith, culture, or traditions.
Both Park Street Christian Church and PSCP are without ADA bathrooms. We want to make our community more physically accessible.
There is a housing crisis in Charlottesville, and this preschool project is in conjunction with (but funded separately from) building affordable housing on our campus. This housing will be accessible to some of the most vulnerable populations in our community.
More Sustainable
We endeavor to be sustainable in our construction whenever possible so that our environmental impact is minimized.
Our current preschool building is not sustainable for our existing students and will not accommodate future growth. With expanded and updated space, we can serve more families in the Charlottesville area for many years to come.
Reliable, sustainable preschool education will benefit more than just a child and their family. It will benefit the entire community as well. We desire to continue our support of this critical and cherished demographic so all may flourish.
More Relational
Meeting the physical needs of PSCP will help us tend to the relational needs of our students and teachers.
Continuing to have a vibrant, full-week preschool operating on the grounds of our church helps keep our community active and vibrant.
Supporting relationships between preschoolers and housing residents enriches the lives of everyone, including all those in between.
